Cybercrime is skyrocketing across the state, prompting the CID Crime and Cybercrime Cell to step up their efforts. Yet, local police stations are also flooded with these complaints. Unfortunately, local cops often struggle to do swift and thorough probes due to a lack of tech tools.
To tackle this, local police will now outsource the tech part of cybercrime investigation to IT experts. This initiative, approved by higher police authorities, aims to hire 649 IT experts for stations statewide, including 51 in Ahmedabad.

Tackling different types of online crime
Incidents such as bank fraud, courier scams, luring and cheating citizens, nude video call blackmail, and photo morphing for defamation are rampant. While the Cyber Cell of CID Crime and Cybercrime Police Station handle these, the workload has grown too heavy. By bringing on external IT experts, including those for Ahmedabad, the local police aim to tackle cybercrime head-on.

Advantages of using IT experts
For local police receiving cybercrime complaints, criminals operating from outside the state are especially hard to track and apprehend. This hinders investigations and frustrates victims. With IT experts on board, equipped with the necessary technology, local police can now promptly investigate and bring justice. This means quicker resolutions and fewer victims having to deal with multiple agencies.

MTech degree
mandatory
Top police officials state that paperwork is currently in progress for this initiative. The recruitment process will soon be fast-tracked, and a proposal will be sent to the Director General’s office. It’s mandatory for these IT experts to hold an MTech degree to qualify.
