Job Duties

Job Purpose An internship with Claremont University Consortium is not like your average internship. You will learn what it means to implement and maintain information security across eight legally distinct, yet, highly collaborative institutions. You’ll be engaged in projects that will provide you with real world, hands-on experience in the exciting world of information security.
Claremont University Consortium (CUC) is the central coordinating and support organization for The Claremont Colleges (TCC), a highly regarded group of seven independent colleges located in Southern California.

Internships will start May/June 2017. The start/end date is flexible based on school schedule.

Essential Functions • Research IT security programs at other higher education institutions and provide a written report assessing commonalities among them and highlighting attributes for TCC to model.
• Participate in the development of security standards and policy templates for TCC.
• Assist with development of an awareness campaign particularly aimed at students and faculty.
• Assist with the development of CUC-specific security standards, policies, and procedures:
o Identify needed modifications to the TCC-wide security policies and standards.
o Document existing IT procedures and assist with mapping to standards.
o Assist with conducting gap analysis between existing and needed procedures.
• Assist with the implementation of Duo multi-factor authentication:
o Assist with the integration of Duo with TCC’s Single Sign-On systems.
o Test and document the use of Duo with a wide variety of applications and clients.
o Assist with the development of end user documentation and training on Duo.


Required Education Summary The following qualifications must be met in order to meet the requirements:
• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in information technology, computer science, information security or equivalent at an accredited institution.
Preferred Education The following qualifications are preferred:
GPA of at least 3.0 and in good academic standing.

Work Schedule The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the organization or business unit.
