Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The mission of the Division of Information Technology is to build a quality and
comprehensive technology infrastructure, establish and maintain an effective operational environment, and deliver quality, prompt, cost
effective and reliable technology services that align with the University’s mission in teaching and learning, research, community service,
as well as compliment the region’s economic goals.
Description of Work

The primary purpose of the IT System Administrator I role is to provide system management,
troubleshooting, administration and maintenance for all IT related Systems that fall within the ITCS domain. Secondary purposes include
identifying and implementing technological solutions with the goal of improving operation performance and efficiency; and meeting with end
users to assess business objectives and define user needs.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this
- Possess a mastery of Windows Desktop/ Active Directory environments including Windows Deployment Services/Intune
- Understand the entire Office 365 suite, concentrating on Exchange, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Office
- Possess and understanding of network systems service technologies including managed DHCP, OSI network layers, VLANs,
PXE Boot, DNS and IPAM.
- Possess a proficiency with scripting technologies such as Powershell.
- Possess the ability to
communicate technical information to individuals on varying levels of understanding and work closely with customers across the organization
to assess needs and provide solutions.
- Possess exemplary time management and project management skills.
- Possess experience
with enterprise O365 and Azure Active directory (AzureAD) environments.
- Possess an understanding of IT Security and Security &
Compliance for PCI-DSS, DMCA, FERPA and HIPAA as it relates to System administration and implementation.
- Possess technical
certifications and/or coursework in areas such as A+, Network+, Server+, CCNA, MCP, MCITP. Be familiar with ITIL framework and understand
the project management phases.
Minimum Training and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,
Computer Engineering or a closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and 0 to 2 years of experience in enterprise
system administration or a closely related area; or an Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering
Technology, or Network Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 to 4 years of experience in enterprise system
administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
