IT Systems Engineer

PRIMARY CHARACTERISTICS

Systems Engineers administer software applications, network systems and databases.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Troubleshoots systemic issues, documenting issues and working to resolve problems
  • Makes observations and recommendations to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements
  • Administers applications and systems to ensure efficient functioning
  • Assists with assigned projects or research
  • May administer IT Security programs
  • Participates in IT Security assessments, risk analysis and reporting
  • Responds to requests for information on IT company policies, practices, guidelines and standards
  • Responsible for responding to system administration requests
  • May provide system or security awareness related training
  • May require 24/7 on call responsibility
  • May be required to lift 25 lbs. or more

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Broad knowledge of Information Technology field and computer systems
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • Logical, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Must display initiative, ability to work independently
  • Ability to react quickly to a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to follow project plans as well as adapt to changing conditions
  • Ability to work seamlessly within a team as well as manage individual tasks

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience as defined below
  • Bachelor’s degree holders must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical field. Non degree holders must possess a minimum of 6 years relevant experience
  • Experience in designated systems or software may be required. Such requirements will accompany the job posting
  • Experience in the financial services industry preferred
  • Experience with scripting: PowerShell in particular
  • Experience with NTFS permissions
  • Experience with Exchange Mailboxes, Public Folders, and Distribution Lists
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Experience with Group Policy
  • Experience with System Administration
