Internet does not seem to have enough of celebrities like Jaden Smith, Angelina Jolie and Sylvester Stallone. Celeb suicide hoaxes is the “in thing” currently. It has become a trend among hackers to kill a celeb to create a furor among their fans and to make the news viral.
When celebs die it causes a shock not only to fans worldwide, but also to the industry. This is especially more so when we hear a celeb has passed away or committed suicide only to learn later on that he or she is actually alive and kicking.
In July, the news of Jaden Smith dead went viral all over social media. The 18-year-old celebrity super kid is not the first to be killed by the Internet though. However, Jaden Smith is the youngest celeb to be shot dead by social media…repeatedly. Reports claimed that Jaden had committed suicide, but it was a suicide hoax.
To make matters more puzzling, there was no clear proof of the fact cited. The “Karate Kid” star was reportedly forced to commit suicide due to his girlfriend Sarah Snyder. There were also speculations that Jaden Smith took his life due to “gender identity issues.”
The news of Jaden Smith’s death also did the rounds on Facebook. The star’s fans were taken for a ride with the false news and believed that the actor had really died. If we go deeper into the incident, the news appears to have come from CNN, Snopes.com reports. But, when readers clicked on the news, he or she is directed to a pop-up page to scam people to sign up for shady subscriptions, reported The Hollywood Gossip.
Previously, Jaden was a 12-year-old kid, when he was killed in a snowboarding accident in Zermatt, Switzerland, thanks to the Internet in 2013. However, at that time, his parents Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s rep was quick to respond to the “false death rumors.”
Angelina Jolie Dead
In February, then in August there were rumors of Angeline Jolie’s death. The 41-year-old actress allegedly committed suicide. Fans went into frenzy after the suicide hoax news went viral. Everyone seemed to be concerned about the 41-year-old actress’s health and well-being. According to FX Newscall, Angeline Jolie’s death hoax was a publicity stunt. The death rumor started when video footage from CNN showed the actress saying “goodbye” to her fans and her husband.
Sylvester Stallone dead
The Rambo star’s death news went viral in the end of August. Reports claimed that the actor was found dead in his room with drug overdose. The source of the story looked to be from CNN, however on clicking it takes readers to a hoax website.
The actor was previously killed on two instances – once in 2013, and again in 2015, the latter was a suicide hoax. Sylvester Stallone was then reported to have died in a car crash. But, it was regular click bait used by hackers. Lets take a look at some of their latest updates from their social media.
