Junior Systems Administrator

Harris is currently seeking to hire a Junior Systems Administrator. The Systems Administrator (SA) is responsible for answering calls from users, documenting identified issues in the approved ticketing system (Remedy), and working to resolve the issue. If noted incident can’t be resolved, SA will document actions taken and escalate the ticket to the next support level. SA will work as a team member to perform Windows Active Directory account management, RSA remote access administration, iPhone support and management, deskside support involving PC, thin-client, KVM, and monitor lifecycle support. SA will build, configure, validate, deploy, and manage end-user equipment and devices.

Candidate will train end-users on system and application usage as new projects and applications are deployed. SA will support basic troubleshooting and support of audio/visual equipment and educate users on proper usage, as needed. SA will track, manage, and report inventory and software licensing.

Candidate will also research technical products and obtain vendor quotes to facilitate procurement activities, including submission, processing, tracking, and reporting of all procurement activities. Member will work as part of a team to ensure customer support is available from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

SA responsibilities also include:

  • Maintenance and updates of system and user documentation
  • Update the knowledgebase, as warranted, to ensure continuity of knowledge between all team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively, and closely with technically adept and involved senior management is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work with clients and other staff, at all levels, – in small groups, one on one with supervisors, staff colleagues, representatives from external organizations, and vendors
  • Provide hands-on support through high-level troubleshooting skills
  • Perform independent research and report on findings
  • Work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain configuration management control in accordance with defined standards, policies, and industry best practices
  • Ensure successful planning, deployment, installation, and upgrades of products within required timelines and resource allocations over multiple geographic sites
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with speed and efficiency
  • Requires the ability to effectively interact with external personnel on technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and vendors
  • After hours on call support may be needed and ability to work overtime as needed
  • Will travel to local off-site locations for installations and maintenance work on short notice, as needed
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 35 pounds in support of hardware installations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline
  • TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required
  • 2-3 years of experience directly related to Windows System Administration in a Windows 7/10 desktop and Windows 2008R2/2012R2 Server environment with increasing responsibilities administering client devices, servers, and services
  • (1) Year of experience with DELL and HP hardware (i.e. server, workstations, and thin clients)
  • (1) Year of experience in the following areas: WSUS Patch Management, Anti-Virus, Symantec Endpoint, OS Upgrades, computer security and system building and monitoring
  • (1) Year experience using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Ghost, or similar imaging product
  • (1) year of iPhone configuration experience

  • Technical IT Certifications
  • Security Certification
  • Proficiency with Enterprise level administration of common network services such as Active Directory, GPOs, DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP and troubleshooting as well as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong hardware/software troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment
  • Strong analytic and research skills – must be detail oriented

This position requires the candidate to already possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
