A Kanawha County man is charged with identity theft after he allegedly used another man’s personal information to obtain debit and credit cards associated with the victim’s bank account, court records show.
Douglas Edward Williams II, 27, of Cabin Creek is charged with identity theft.
In March, Williams allegedly used the cards at a gas station ATM. He was arrested April 1.
West Virginia State Police troopers say they found a purple binder in Williams’ bedroom that contained the victim’s date of birth, Social Security number and other personal information. Troopers also found a Discover credit card with the victim’s name on it, along with a notebook that contained bank account numbers and routing numbers.
According to the criminal complaint, Williams confessed to calling Huntington National Bank around early March to obtain a debit card and credit card in the victim’s name.
Troopers say Williams used the cards at multiple gas station ATMs to make cash withdrawals, as well as at a Wal-Mart store.
