NEWKIRK — Failure to appear warrants are issued for Casey Joel Weant, 35, Ponca City, by the Kay County District Court.

Weant reportedly failed to appear for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 11.

He has three pending cases which include two charges of failure to register as a sex offender, possession of a firearm after a felony conviction and misdemeanor possession of meth.

The failure to register cases were filed on Feb. 8, 2022 and May 13, 2022. The firearm case was filed on Oct. 25, 2022.

Weant was charged in 2009 with second degree rape and convicted of the offense in 2011. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but four years suspended. (see related story)

Bond for Weant is endorsed at $90,000. Anyone with information on his location is asked to call law enforcement.
