On Friday, Nov. 24, an Amber Alert was issued around 5pm for a 3-year-old child taken from their home in Ft. Riley. The two suspects, Jordan Thompson, (father), and Melanie Allison, took the child from their mother at gunpoint from their residence. After leaving the residence, the suspects left in a orange 2015 BMW X1 with license plate 769-RXZ. It was unknown where the suspects were fleeing to.

Later that day, a tip was given to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, (BCSO), that the suspects were believed to be in the area of NE 110th St and NE Bluestem Rd in Butler County. A subsequent signal was given that the vehicle was around Wal-Mart in El Dorado. Soon after, Deputy Pension with the BCSO located the vehicle at the Jump Start located at 701 North Main.

Deputy Pension arrested the suspects without any trouble and the child was taken into Butler Sheriff’s custody. The investigation was then turned over to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Fort Riley Criminal Investigation Division. The child was safely returned to their mother.

The father, Jordan Thompson, is being held at the Butler County Detention Facility on a federal charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The second suspect is not being held at the Butler County Detention Facility.

“All of my deputies did a great job taking the suspect into custody and securing the child’s safety without further incident,” said Monty Hughey, Butler County Sheriff.
