LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A child sexual predator who was wanted in the U.S. and fled to the Philippines is dead, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Alan Buitre, 61, was wanted for a supervised release violation. He was originally convicted of having child pornography.

The U.S. Marshals asked for the public’s help to locate Buitre on a “Manhunt Monday” segment which aired on May 6. He was believed to be in Las Vegas or the Philippines.

Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Ray Venegas said a tip was received after the story aired stating Buitre died in the Philippines last year and it was later confirmed that he died from alcohol-related complications.

Buitre was found with more than 600 images showing child sexual abuse, according to court records. Some of the material was considered to be sadistic or masochistic and included material with a child under the age of 12, records show.

Buitre received a sentence of five years and was placed on lifetime supervision. Buitre admitted to watching adult pornography twice while on probation which is considered a violation.

Buitre stopped communicating with his probation officer in 2018, according to the U.S. Marshals.
