Nine arrests of men traveling to meet with minors for unlawful sexual acts have been made during a month-long undercover investigation, law enforcement officials announced Wednesday.
Operation C.A.K.E. (Cops Against Kid Exploitation) began on May 25, and in that time a number of local agencies — the Kissimmee and St. Cloud Police Departments and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC) arrested nine men traveling to meet with minors for unlawful sexual acts and online solicitation of a minor, a police release said.
During Operation C.A.K.E, detectives posed as minors in an attempt to locate online predators who wanted to have sex with a child who was either 13 or 14 years old. When the offenders arrived at the location to meet with the minor, they were met by law enforcement officers and taken into custody.
The nine suspects are identified as:
- Geraldo Caraballo-Rodriguez, 26
- Baldney Lasalle-Febus, 32
- Charles Brown Jr., 22
- Jason Shaffer, 42
- Michael Boyette, 23
- Felix Zapata, 28
- Alex Hidalgo, 22
- Devontae Mathis, 22
- Damien Suhr, 40
Assisting agencies included the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, Altamonte Springs, Clermont and Orlando police departments.
Law enforcement reminds parents to please monitor the social media and online accounts of their kids. Predators exist and are looking for children to exploit.
