Local students win $65k in contest for invention that helps sex trafficking victims – WSB-TV Channel 2 | #tinder | #pof | #match | #sextrafficking | romancescams | #scams


DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Some local middle school students have won $65,000 from Samsung for using STEM skills to help victims of human trafficking.

Tucker Middle School students won the money, which will go towards technology and classroom supplies, in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest.

The students designed a device for airplane bathrooms that alerts the flight crew of a human trafficking victim on board which also dispenses an adhesive RFID tracker chip to the victim.

The students compete for a chance to become national winners and receive a total of $130,000 on Wednesday.

Sweet video shows the moment the students learned that they became national finalists via Zoom.
