Lookup Saved Password in Internet Explorer

Did you forget your username or password for a site? Here is a quick way to figure that out.

Welcome to another Braintek video tutorial. My name is Greg, owner of Braintek.

Today, I’m going to show you how to look up your saved User name and Passwords for websites, using your Control Panel.

So we’re going to start by clicking on ‘Start’ here, go to the ‘Control Panel.’ In the search box here, type in “credential.” As you type, it comes up and says here’s the ‘Credential Manager’ and we’re going to click on ‘Manage web credentials.’

From here, it’s going to have all of the various websites and user names that you’ve stored passwords for. You can locate the one that you’re talking about. Click on the little down arrow and it shows you. For that site, here is your user name and your password, but your password is hidden so click on ‘Show.’

It’s going to prompt you for Windows desktop password that way anybody that walks by and wants to see what your password for a specific website is, they need to know this password in order to do that.

So we’re going to type in our password and as you do that, it displays what your specific password is for that site and as you can see, mine is “password” for this site.

So I have my user name and password now and I’ll be able to figure out how to get back onto this site if I’m using a different internet browser or a different computer.

I’d like to thank you for watching the Braintek video tutorials. Check out our other videos on the Braintek channel and have a great day!
