A state lawmaker from Wright County has been named vice chair of the Legislative Commission on Cybersecurity.

State Senator Eric Lucero of St. Michael has a significant background and expertise in the areas of privacy and cybersecurity.

Lucero says strengthening and enhancing cybersecurity measures is crucial in the digital age, where nearly all aspects of our lives, including sensitive information, is stored online.

The senator says cybercriminals are constantly evolving their tactics, and that protecting sensitive information, preventing data breaches and safeguarding against cyber threats is a never-ending battle. Lucero said he is eager for the commission to continue the work of helping to protect the sensitive data for Minnesotans.

The St. Michael Republican is in his 9th year in the Minnesota Legislature. He has 20 years of experience working as a technologist and cybersecurity expert in his private sector career.

The Legislative Commission on Cybersecurity was established in 2021 to provide oversight of the state’s cybersecurity measures.
