Man Arrested For Identity Theft

On September 27, 2017 at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Milford Police Department Patrol Division responded to Redner’s Market located at 28253 Lexus Dr. Milford, DE, reference to a theft report. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a loss prevention employee, who advised that on 09/10/2017, the suspect entered the store, obtained items and then returned the items using an illegitimate sales receipt. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Oscar Williams, 40 of Milford, DE. Further investigation revealed that the incident was observed on video surveillance at the store and that Williams allegedly forged another person’s name on the return slip. Investigation showed that Williams obtained an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency from the illegal transaction and then left the store. It was also learned that Williams had been previously banned from the store.

Williams was taken into custody on 09/28/2017. He was charged with Identity Theft, Forgery 1st Degree, Theft Under $1500, Use of Illegitimate Retail Sales Receipt, and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. Williams was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on $7250.00 USC unsecured bail. He was ordered to appear in Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 10/05/2017 for a preliminary hearing.
