Man arrested on theft, fraud charges

The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office charged a 21-year-old man with five counts of attempted obtaining property by false pretense and six counts of identity theft, larceny and obtaining property by false pretense after he allegedly stole a wallet containing $35 in cash and credit cards.

The wallet was stolen from a residence in the 1600 block of Sweet Gum Meadow Drive on July 17. The victim identified the person who stole her wallet as Kevon Olajuwon Filmore, who lives at 924 Gum Swamp Church Road.

After reviewing surveillance video from one of four stores where the credit cards were used, police identified Filmore and one other person as the ones who used one of the stolen credit cards.

Filmore was arrested on July 21, and another arrest is pending, according to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. Filmore’s bond was set at $100,000.

GREENVILLE

Man wanted

The Greenville Police Department is trying to locate a man accused of forcing his way into his ex-girlfriends’ residence and assaulting her on July 19.

The man forced open the front door of the apartment in the 4100 block of Dudley’s Grant Drive about 11:15 p.m. and repeatedly assaulted the 37-year-old woman, according to reports issued Monday by the Greenville Police Department.

A report indicated that he attempted to strangle the woman. She was transported to Vidant Medical Center by private vehicle for treatment of her wounds.

After he assaulted her, he took her car. Police took out warrants for the man’s arrest, but he had not been located as of Monday afternoon.
