Man says someone he met via online dating attempted extortion: Beachwood police blotter | #bumble | #tinder | #pof | #onlinedating | romancescams | #scams



BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Extortion: Richmond Road

At 9:20 p.m. April 18, a Beachwood man, 29, reported that someone he met on an online dating site demanded $800 from him in exchange for not posting online explicit photos of the man. Police are investigating.

Carrying a concealed weapon: Harvard Road

At 2:50 p.m. April 14, an officer stopped for speeding a car at Harvard and South Green roads and then learned that the driver, a Maple Heights woman, 25, was in possession of a gun.

The woman was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, in this instance a felony; improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle; and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. The woman was also cited for speeding.

Domestic violence: Richmond Road

At 7:45 p.m. April 15, a woman, 33, reported that her husband, 39, during an argument, punched her. The man was not present when police arrived at the couple’s home, but he later turned himself in at the Beachwood police station.

Domestic violence: Hendon Road

At 11:25 a.m. April 16, a woman, 38, of Warrensville Heights, reported that while she was in a car with a Cleveland man, 47, he punched her. The incident took place at Hendon and Richmond roads. Police arrested and charged the man with domestic violence.

Theft: East Groveland Road

At 5 p.m. April 16, a woman reported that a delivered package was stolen from her home’s porch. The contents of the package had an estimated value of $100.

Theft: Central Parkway

At 9:50 a.m. April 18, a Munroe Falls man, 30, reported that, the day before, when he was at the Winking Lizard, 25800 Central Parkway, someone stole his wallet. A credit card that had been in the wallet was used to make fraudulent transactions, including Ohio Lottery purchases.

Criminal damaging: Richmond Road

At 6:10 a.m. April 19, a woman, 67, reported that someone slashed the four tires on her car, parked in her home’s driveway.

Five minutes later, a second Richmond Road woman. 70, reported that four tires on her car were also slashed.

Assault: Park East Drive

At 5:25 a.m. April 20, a woman, 29, of Warrensville Heights, reported that the man she was with at the Home 2 Suites hotel, 3589 Park East Drive, had choked her. Police arrested the man, 29, of Bedford, at the hotel.
