:We are seeking a Manager, Technical Operations

+ Work with sensitive information and classified matter.


+ Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in a relevant STEM discipline, plus eight or more years of relevant Engineering and Operations experience, including two or more years of managerial/leadership experience; or equivalent combination of completed STEM education and relevant Engineering & Operations experience.
+ Experience or relevant knowledge in any of the following areas: Nuclear Facilities Safety Basis, Industrial Facilities Safety Basis, Concept of Operations/ Readiness Review development, Primary Hazard Screening, Work Planning & Control.
+ Demonstrated experience in systems engineering.


+ Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated experience managing DOE regulatory driven and non-regulatory driven programs.
+ Demonstrated experience aligning services provided with customer needs and expectations.
+ Demonstrated experience leading teams through the system development lifecycle to deliver a product to a customer.
+ Demonstrated experience applying quality concepts to the development and implementation of methods, procedures, metrics, tools, and techniques.
+ Experience working in a Research and Development environment.
+ Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to interact effectively with line organization personnel, other Environment, Safety & Health (ES&H) organizations, senior SNL management, and DOE officials.
+ Experience with Sandia?s Mission Area framework and the ability to strategically envision and manage a program portfolio that enables mission success.

The ES&H Planning Department contributes to the execution of the Sandia National Laboratories’ mission at all levels within the processes of planning and executing work across the laboratory. We partner with our customers to integrate safety into management and work practices at all levels, addressing all types of work and all types of hazards to ensure protection of workers, the public, and the environment. The department performs the following activities:

Provide program, technical assistance, and tools to assist customers in understanding and integrating work planning into their activities.

Our subject matter expertise includes safety basis regulatory requirements, Primary Hazard Screening design/development/maintenance, Nuclear and Industrial Facility Safety Basis determination and support, Conduct of Operations, Readiness Assessments, and Work Planning and Control/Engineered Safety collaboration.

Services provided include on-site technical assistance, training, document reviews, audits and assessments, and support of failure modes analyses/hazard evaluations.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test.
