MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday evening that deputies are searching for a registered sex offender.

In a release, deputies said they believe that the offender — Michael Gene Tindall, 62 — illegally removed his ankle monitor and fled from supervision.

Tindall was ordered to participate in the S.H.I.E.L.D. program, which allows the sheriff’s office to use ankle monitors to track domestic violence offenders on pretrial release, the release shows.

Following Tindall’s disappearance, a warrant was issued for his arrest, deputies added.

Anyone with information on Tindall’s whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement immediately by calling (352) 732-9111.
