Medford High School students will return from winter break to new safety measures after a student was accused of stabbing another student in a school bathroom last month.

In a Friday release, Medford School Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent shared that there will be a bathroom schedule and that most restrooms will be closed before and after school. When students do enter a bathroom, an adult will be there to monitor them and no more than two students will be permitted in a bathroom at any given time.

IDs will also be mandated for all students and faculty. students will be required to eat lunch in the cafeteria and will not be allowed to leave campus.

During the fight, one student was stabbed in the torso and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The student’s condition was not known Monday.

A shelter-in-place was issued for the entire school for three hours as police investigated.
