MEMPHIS, Mich. (WWJ) — A Macomb County man is behind bars after allegedly exchanging sexually explicit messages with a man who was posing as an 11-year-old girl.

Derrick Glenn of Memphis — near the Macomb/St. Clair County line — is facing six charges, including four felonies, after he was arrested last weekend.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s office got a call from the Memphis Police Department on Saturday, May 18 to assist with a possible case of child exploitation. Authorities arrested Glenn, 35, at an apartment on Henderson Street.

Investigators seized a USB flash drive and a cell phone at the scene and the sheriff’s office also received an email with a video of the alleged incident.

Authorities say the case was initially brought to the attention of Memphis police through “Big Country’s Predator Exposure,” an online social media run group run by Sean “Big Country” Meadows that seeks to catch child predators.

Meadows, posing as an 11-year-old girl, communicated with Glenn on social
media and via text message, according to the sheriff’s office. Glenn sent graphic messages and images to Meadows.

Big Country Predators posted a video to Facebook showing a confrontation with Glenn outside his apartment.

Glenn has been charged with one count of child sexually abusive activity, one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes, one count of indecent exposure, two felony counts of using a computer to commit a crime and one count of misdemeanor using a computer to commit a crime.

The charge of child sexually abusive activity carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Bond was set at $50,000, cash/surety, no 10%. Glenn remains held at the Macomb County Jail.

Authorities say it is dangerous for civilians to try to catch child predators and advise against it.
