Middle school teacher charged with child pornography possession | #teacher | #children | #kids | #parenting | #parenting | #kids

A teacher at a middle school in Germantown has been charged with possessing child pornography on his cellphone, Montgomery County police said.

Kevin Bremerman, 35, a teacher at Roberto Clemente Middle School, was arrested after a warrant was issued on Monday. Officers found multiple videos and photos of child pornography on his phone at his home, police said in a press release.

Bremerman also worked at Goshen Elementary School in Gaithersburg until last year, according to the school system.

Police said the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children got a tip from a mobile application in January that a user was uploading child pornography and lived in Montgomery County. County police started investigating, the press release stated.

Bremerman, of Damascus, did not involve students in his offenses, police said.

He has been charged with 10 counts of child pornography possession.

Bremerman has been placed on paid administrative leave, Montgomery County Public Schools spokeswoman Gboyinde Onijala wrote in an email to Bethesda Beat on Wednesday.

In a letter, Roberto Clemente Middle School Principal Jeffrey Brown wrote that the school system is “fully cooperating with law enforcement” even though police don’t think any images of MCPS students were on Bremerman’s phone.

“These charges are deeply troubling and are a violation of the core values of our school and school system. This behavior does not reflect the principles of MCPS or our community and it will not be tolerated,” Brown wrote.

Goshen Elementary School Principal Stephanie Dinga wrote in a letter on Wednesday that Bremerman worked at the school from 2017 to 2020. She wrote that he also worked from 2000 to 2015 for Bar-T and KidsCo, which are programs that offer programs before and after school, as well as summer camps.

Court records were not immediately available on Wednesday.
