When the complaint was taken before Colombo Additional Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrema today (19), the lawyers representing the two suspects had requested that their clients be released on bail.
Officials of the Women and Children’s Bureau objected to the request and said that the investigation into the suspects had not been completed and that if they were granted bail, the investigation could be hampered.

After considering the facts presented, the Magistrate stated that the bail applications were rejected as the investigation into the suspects had not been completed and their release on bail could hamper the investigations.
Accordingly, the two suspects were remanded till the 29th of this month.
