The man met the 14-year-old victim on social media, authorities said.

ELKINS PARK, PA — A Montgomery County man sexually assaulted a child he met on the Internet and then filmed the incident, authorities said.

Joshua Warner, 24, of Elkins Park, has been charged with statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, and numerous other counts.

Warner met the 14-year-old child on Discord, a social media and instant messaging platform.

“These charges show the opportunities social media presents to predators who hide online under the cover of anonymity,” Attorney General Michelle Henry said in a statement. “As if the sexual assault of a child is not horrific enough, this defendant chose to film the crimes. My office will continue to find and prosecute those who prey upon children.”

Henry said that Warner was well aware that the child was 14 when he arranged to meet her.

Further investigation uncovered video footage of the crimes Warner had saved to his cell phone, police said.

Warner was also charged with unlawful contact with a minor and manufacturing child pornography.

Upper Moreland Police arrested Warner at his home Thursday and he was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. Bail was set to $250,000 and a preliinary hearing is forthcoming.
