Moses Lake man pleads guilty in online predator string | Columbia Basin | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing

ELLENSBURG — A Moses Lake man has entered a guilty plea to charges stemming from an undercover operation aimed at catching online predators in Kittitas County on Friday. William Harding Hare, 42, faced the court, where he admitted to second-degree attempted child rape and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

The charges came as a result of Hare’s interaction with an individual he believed was a 13-year-old girl named “Alex.” However, “Alex” was, in fact, a sheriff deputy from the Washington Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force posing as a teenager on the social networking and dating application MeetMe. This operation is part of a broader effort to combat the digital exploitation of minors.

Court documents reveal that Hare initiated contact with “Alex” on January 13. The conversations quickly turned sexual in nature, despite Hare being informed a few days into their communication that “Alex” was only 13 years old. Undeterred, Hare discussed meeting in person, suggesting they could avoid detection by her parents and even talked about booking a hotel room and bringing “adult toys.”
