KEEPING your kids occupied during the hot weather is easier said than done sometimes.
But one savvy mum’s hack is being praised by other parents and it’ll keep your kids busy for hours.
mum-of-four Shannon Doherty has made a name for herself thanks to her clever parenting hacks, and this one is no different.
The mum transformed a small pop up tent in her garden into a sandbox for her kids.
Keeping the sand in the tent steps them throwing it outside and making mess, and it also keeps them out of direct sunlight, preventing sunburn.
But the mum’s hack didn’t end there – she also shared a quick tip to help keep pesky ants and insects out of the tent sandbox.
She said: “Put cinnamon in your sandbox. It smells good and keeps the bugs and ants away.”
It turns out you don’t need to pay for toys to use in the sand either.
If you don’t already have buckets and spades, Shannon suggesting using a few items from your kitchen instead.
Her kids made use of measuring cups, as well and different pots and pans.
After sharing the summer hack other parents couldn’t wait to try it with their own little ones.
