Mum Shares Warning about Grooming Incident through Xbox | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing

A mother from London has issued a warning to parents after her 10-year-old son was targeted by a predator through his Xbox. The incident occurred while her son was playing Fortnite, a popular online game. The mother, Tessa, overheard a man’s voice on the game referring to her son as ‘Danny,’ which was the name associated with his gaming account. The man’s tone quickly turned from playful to inappropriate, asking her son if he knew about sex. Shocked and horrified, Tessa immediately stopped the game and muted the console.

Tessa is now urging parents to turn off audio completely on their children’s gaming devices in order to protect them from online predators. Many children wear headsets while playing games, making them vulnerable to unwanted interactions. Tessa thought her son would be safe since he wasn’t using a headset, but the incident still occurred.

The incident has deeply affected Tessa’s son, who has recently been diagnosed with autism. He was so traumatized by the encounter that he asked his mother if the predator knew where they lived. Tessa believes that had her son been playing in his bedroom or with a headset on, the situation could have been much worse.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Another mother from Liverpool also reported that her 12-year-old son was targeted by a man through Fortnite. This predator asked her son to send explicit pictures and perform sexual acts, even offering to pay him. The mother was appalled and immediately reported the incident to the police.

These incidents highlight the importance of parental vigilance when it comes to online gaming. It is crucial for parents to be aware of the risks and to take steps to protect their children. The NSPCC provides advice for parents on how to keep children safe online and how to identify signs of grooming.
