AGRA: A day after a 28-year-old man who worked in a computer centre in Noida allegedly hacked five members of his family to death and later shot himself in UP’s Mainpuri district, one of the victims who sustained severe injuries in the attack said “the murderer, Shiv Veer Yadav, had served food and drinks laced with sedatives to the family members before attacking them with an axe.”
Sushma Devi, 35, the murderer’s aunt, currently in hospital, said, “Around 12 midnight, Shiv first drugged his family members and then attacked them, including his 24-year-old wife Dolly. When I tried to stop him, he also attacked me but somehow I managed to save myself. He then went outside the house and shot himself. Before committing the crime, he had dropped both his kids — four-year-old daughter and three-months-old son — at a neighbour’s house.”
The deceased were identified as the killer’s newly married brother Sonu Yadav and his wife Soni (20), another brother Bhullan Yadav (25), brother-in-law Saurabh Yadav (23) and a friend Deepak Kumar (20). All were residents of Gokulpura Arsara village under Kishanganj police station area.
According to relatives, the accused had come back home 20 days ago to attend his younger brother’s marriage ceremony but he “did not seem happy while preparing for the wedding”.
Police said, “It seems that Shiv Veer had planned the killings weeks ago. He had bought the murder weapon recently.” Preliminary investigation also revealed that the accused was under heavy debt.
SHO Anil Kumar said, “Viscera report of the victims is yet to come. Meanwhile, a case under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered. A probe is underway to ascertain the reason for the mass killing.”
