NC man gets prison time for hacking senior US officials

ALEXANDRIA, VA. — A Morehead City man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for his part in a computer hacking conspiracy that targeted former CIA Director John Brennan and other senior government officials.

Justin Gray Liverman, 25, known online as “D3F4ULT,” was part of a hacking group called “Crackas With Attitude” that gained access to personal email and social media accounts of senior U.S. government officials and their spouses. The hackers would publicly disclose personal information and send threatening messages to victims, authorities said.

Last year, British authorities arrested a 16-year-old boy who they said used the name “Cracka” to target Brennan and others.

A co-conspirator, Andrew Otto Boggs, 23, of North Wilkesboro, known online as “INCURSIO,” was sentenced in June to two years in prison for his part in the scheme.
