LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Several Nebraska agencies are asking for people to be on the lookout for scams involving banks, fitness groups and fake web links.

York State Bank said customers are getting texts from scammers telling them to review a pending debit transaction with a fake web link.

The bank reminds people that it will never ask for personal information over the phone.

Anyone who receives a fraudulent text should call the bank at 402-436-4411.

In Franklin, police said scammers are using fake web links that look legitimate to trick unsuspecting victims.

In Bellevue, police are warning of a scam involving targeting users of fitness apps.

Similar to romance scams, police said con artists will build a relationship with the victim before asking for money.

To avoid the scam, police recommend that app users “think” before accepting friend requests from strangers.

If you spot the ruse, police said to report it to the Better Business Bureau’s scam tracker.
