Coffee with a Cop event is Thursday
ALLIANCE − The next Stark County Sheriff’s Office Coffee with a Cop event will be at 8 a.m. Thursday at Heggy’s Confectionery, 1306 W State St. The Coffee with a Cop program is designed to provide an opportunity for community members to ask questions and to learn more about how the Sheriff’s Office serves the community.
The community is invited to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know the members of the Sheriff’s Office better. The Coffee with a Cop program is a national initiative adopted by the county agency.

Swiss steak dinner is Saturday
BEACH CITY − Beach City American Legion Hall Post 549, 125 Third Ave. NE, will have its Swiss steak dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. (or whenever the food runs out) Saturday. Drive-thru or carryout only. Watch for signs about where to enter.
The meal features Swiss steak, three-bean salad, applesauce, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, corn, bread and dessert for $12.
Canton City Schools Hispanic Heritage Celebration is Saturday
CANTON − Canton City Schools annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Timken Career Campus 521 Tuscarawas St. W with dances, prizes, music, entertainment, and authentic Spanish appetizers and refreshments. The halls of Timken Career Campus will be lined with tables representing community partners and vendors.
National First Ladies Library plans events
CANTON − The National First Ladies Library, 205 Market Ave. S, has scheduled the following programs this week:
- Thursday, 6:30 p.m., Book Signing & Author Talk: Carl Sferrazza Anthony will discuss his Jacqueline Kennedy book “Camera Girl” at the National First Ladies Library. He will be available for book signings, and books will be for sale. Appetizers and drink included.
- Friday, 6 p.m., “Say Yes to the Free Dress” cocktail party with TLC Star Monte Durham will be at Villa Grande at Gervasi Vineyard, 1700 55th St. NE. Participants will meet Durham and may enter the grand raffle to win a free couture wedding dress and shop for the dress with Durham. (Raffle winners do not need to be present to win.)
- Saturday, 6:30 p.m., “Gossip, Scandals, and Delicious Details of Jackie O” with TLC celebrity Monte Durham at the National First Ladies Library. Durham will meet attendees and give a talk about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’ life. Appetizers and drink included. The National First Ladies Library is hosting a charitable online auction (visit https://givebutter.com/c/v9txVC/auction) of numerous Jackie Kennedy artifacts that Durham donated.

Free TIPS server training is Sept. 22
CANTON − The Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Stark County Safe Communities, Esber Beverage, and Drug Free Stark County are collaborating to offer TIPS server training free to local businesses that sell or serve alcohol. The training will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, 4500 Atlantic Blvd. NE.
TIPS trains servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol how to prevent intoxication, drunken driving and underage drinking. This training may help protect businesses from DUI/OVI liability; help lower business insurance premiums; and help prevent liquor sales to minors. Training staff to recognize the signs of intoxication can reduce the chance that an alcohol-related incident will occur, authorities said.

Abortion loss support group for men to meet

Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health fundraiser Sept. 23
CANTON − Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health’s 18th Annual Let Your Light Shine, Southern Nights fundraiser will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 23 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 320 Market Ave. S.

JACKSON TWP. − The 19th annual Walk for the Angels will be Oct. 14 at Jackson North Park. No registration is required to attend.
Walk shirts are available for purchase at Rego’s online store. They are available in adult and youth sizes. The deadline to order shirts is 8 a.m. Sept. 25. Baby names will be listed on the back of the shirts. New this year are God’s Tiny Angels support shirts.

Baby, Tot & Bigger Show is Saturday
JACKSON TWP. − Young and growing families are invited to the Canton Baby, Tot & Bigger Show from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Belden Village Mall. Admission is free, and the event is open to the public.
The Baby, Tot & Bigger Show is an event for new and growing families, including pregnancy, newborns, toddlers, and preschool ages. The event is designed to present information to families with young children on health and wellness, childcare services, pediatrics, family activities, education and children’s classes.
Children and parents can play the scavenger hunt game involving each exhibitor, spin a prize wheel sponsored by First Glance 4D Imaging, attend story time at 11 a.m., visit a balloon artist starting at noon, and meet the mascots starting at 1 p.m.
The first 100 families will receive a swag bag, sponsored by Stark County Catholic Schools. Free child ID kits, provided by Guardians Advocating Child Safety and Protection, will also be available for parents.
Jackson Golden Bears Alumni Banquet is Sept. 30
MASSILLON − All Jackson High School alumni who graduated more than 50 years ago are invited to attend the annual Jackson Golden Bears Alumni Banquet for food, music and memories.

The Cars are the Stars exhibition is Saturday
MINERVA − The third annual The Cars are the Stars fine automobile exhibition, benefiting Minerva’s Roxy Theatre, is noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The show will be held on Minerva’s historic North Market Street and will feature the 1967 Shelby GT500E – Eleanor from “Gone in 60 Seconds,” several cars from “The List” in the movie, as well as the best in exotic, classic, collector, and competition cars on the bricks. There will also be up to 150 collector cars on surrounding streets.
Live music will be provided by Luke Schreffler from noon to 2 p.m., and T. Free & the Panic Attacks from 2 to 5 p.m. Food will be available. Minerva’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area will be in effect from noon to 9 p.m. the day of the exhibition.
“Gone in 60 Seconds” will be shown in the Roxy at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online at carsarestars23.eventbrite.com or at the door.

Perry History Club to meet
