Newton Man Jailed for Failure to Register as Sex Offender | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

38-year-old Fred Allen Lovelace of Journey’s Pass in Newton has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, sex offender on premises where children are present, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana up to half-an-ounce. Lovelace earned a lifetime registration on the North Carolina sex offender registry as the result of a 2nd-degree rape conviction in 2005 in Catawba County in which the victim was 13 years of age and another conviction in 2017 in Cabarrus County for indecent liberties with a minor.

Lovelace was jailed today (November 22) in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he is being held without bond. An appearance in District Court was set for November 27 in Newton.
