Japanese cybersecurity firm reports Lazarus Group is targeting LinkedIn users who work in the cryptocurrency industry

North Korean cybercriminals are targeting LinkedIn users working in the cryptocurrency sector in a new phishing campaign, posing as recruiters using fake profiles, according to a Japanese cybersecurity firm.

As part of the new phishing campaign, blockchain analytics company Slowmist’s chief information security officer, known simply as 23pds, reported on social media on Monday that North Korea’s Lazarus Group masqueraded as a senior figure at a Shanghai-based blockchain venture capital firm.

The cybercrime group used a LinkedIn profile with the name “Nevil Bolson,” claiming to be a founding partner at Fenbushi Capital. While
