Seoul police find DPRK cybercriminals targeted companies in new campaigns since 2022 to steal defense tech

North Korean cyber operatives have stolen data files from the networks of at least 10 South Korean defense manufacturers, the ROK’s National Police Agency confirmed on Tuesday.

In a press release, the police agency stated that notorious North Korean cybercrime groups, including Lazarus, Andariel and Kimsuky, have been actively targeting South Korean defense entities through new campaigns since Nov. 2022. 

An investigation by the National Security Investigation Division and the National Cyber Crisis Management Agency found that North Korean threat actors conducted attacks against South Korea’s defense manufacturers by employing increasingly sophisticated and diverse methods
