Lawyers of Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) has defended former Daily Mirror editor and Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan’s “notable absence” from Prince Harry’s phone-hacking trial.
MGN lawyers said to the UK high court it is “not necessary”.
“Mr Morgan is a high-profile individual, and the allegations against him have generated a lot of publicity. However, it is not necessary for the allegations against him to be determined,” they said.
The Duke of Sussexes’ lawyer David Sherborne accused the 58-year old of “confining his comments”.
“Rather than come and give evidence to meet (the allegations), he has chosen instead to confine his comments to outside the courtroom.”
