How it works is you commit to working two hours a day, one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, to cover the time that kids are going to and coming from school,” Lindsey said.He said for anyone who applies and is hired, OKCPD provides their safety equipment, including a vest and stop signs, and trains them for the position. For now, he said many teachers are having to work double duty until another crossing guard is hired.Until they hire enough people to fill those positions, some officers and units are also working double to keep the students safe across the metro.”So the motorcycle unit, we have some overtime programs as well where the lieutenant has done a good job coordinating efforts among those officers.
