Did you know that according to a recent report by the United Nations, Australia is the world’s second-best country to live in, because of its ‘excellent quality of life index?’ This means it tops league tables in terms of high life expectations, access to education, and wellbeing. This jewel of the Southern Hemisphere is also sixth-largest on the planet, and crammed with interesting places to visit, making it perfect for visitors and tourists alike, especially the romantically-inclined. Loveaholics has shared a list of places in Australia to have a great date.

Hot air balloon ride

After connecting via online dating and wanting to impress with your first date choice, there can be few more alluring settings than this. Gliding over the landscape in a hot air balloon will create a wonderful atmosphere. You can book tours that rise over Hunter Valley in New South Wales, drifting into the blue skies to enjoy 360-degree views of the rolling hills and vineyards this region is famous for.  Start your date with a delicious breakfast, including a glass of chilled champagne. Afterward, sample some of the world-class wines produced here.

Sydney Harbour Bridge

One of Australia’s most iconic sights and the world’s widest bridge of its kind, a trip to Sydney Harbour Bridge will linger in your memories. What’s even better – you can climb this amazing structure for a proper bird’s-eye view of the city. The downside is that if you or your partner have a fear of heights, it can be a little daunting. But it would be well worth it for the stunning views of the harbour and the Opera House, with knowledgeable guides to provide a commentary.

Uluru Rock

Everyone has heard of Ayer’s Rock, a massive sandstone monolith perched in the heart of Northern Territory (and formed 550 million years ago!) Sacred to indigenous Australians, and now more commonly known by its original name, Uluru, this striking landmark should be high on your itinerary. The closest town is Alice Springs, 450-kilometres away, and there are direct flights from its airport, not to mention other Australian cities. Your relationship will blossom if you hire a car and take the Red Centre Way drive, allowing you to bask in the scenic delights.

Taronga Zoo

Australia is renowned for many things, not least the hospitality of its people, but it is especially known for its wildlife. A terrific dating opportunity would be visiting Taronga Zoo in Sydney. You can book a ‘glamping experience,’ commencing with camping beneath the stars overlooking Sydney’s bridge and Opera House, waking up to a hearty breakfast, before being transported to the zoo for a safari. With rope walks over the terrain, majestic tigers, inquisitive primates, and native wallabies and possums, just make sure you have plenty of space on your phone for photos.

Spa pampering

Just 90 minutes from bustling Melbourne is Victoria state’s spa country. Lake House is a stunning example of a luxury spa hotel, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Daylesford. Here you can relax and take advantage of the soothing facilities.

Dinner and opera

You might be familiar with Sydney Opera House’s distinctive award-winning structure, with its distinct white sail-shaped shells. But did you know you can also dine here? There’s are various fabulous restaurants here where you can savour mouth-watering cuisine before deciding if you want to explore the city or take in a performing arts event.

Gold Coast

Queensland’s Pacific coast has everything that would make even the most casual dating even more special. Water-sports, snorkelling, cruises to the Great Barrier Reef, interior forests home to all sorts of wildlife species, and multiple places to touch down and enjoy the local cuisine. The only issue is being so spoiled for choice for things to do with your loved one.

So, you can see why there are so many reasons Australia will always make an exciting backdrop for your date. When people outside this fascinating country form a mental picture, the first things springing to mind might be kangaroos, surfers on Bondi Beach, Sydney harbour bridge, and lots of opportunities for barbecues. But there’s so much more to the real-life ‘Oz’ for you and your partner to fall in love with.
