Oregon Man Accused of Sexually Abusing Child Apprehended in Minooka | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

The FBI, Grundy County Proactive Unit, Minooka Police Department, Channahon Police Department and other agencies assisted in the apprehension of an alleged sexual predator. The Salem, Oregon Police Department said Jason Mikel, 28, of Oregon is accused of sexually abusing and kidnapping a three-year-old child while at a variety store in Oregon on April 1st.

Investigators say the child’s mother reported that while shopping, she lost sight of her daughter and found the three-year-old in Mikel’s arms. The mother confronted the unknown suspect, who put the child down and fled the store. During the investigation, detectives learned the child had been harmed in the encounter. Mikel was charged with Attempted unlawful sexual penetration, first-degree Sex abuse, and first-degree Attempted kidnapping.

Investigators learned that Mikel fled Oregon to the village of Minooka where he was arrested by the assistance of several agencies on April 24th. Mikel signed a waiver of extradition in Grundy County on April 25th and remains lodged in the Grundy County Jail.
