OWASSO, Okla. — Owasso Public Schools provided an update on the security measures the district is enforcing in a letter to parents and students.

The letter included a list of agencies the district is working with, methods of increasing security personnel, updated safety drills and resources that are available to students.

The letter said security has been top-of-mind in the district recently.

“School safety has been on the minds of many parents and students recently, and I wanted to reach out to you today to both inform and provide reassurance that we take this matter very seriously, said Tiffani Cooper, principal of Owasso High School. “The safety of students and staff is, and always will be, our top priority.”

An update on rules and disciplinary violations such as hall supervision and suspensions were also provided in the letter.

The letter asked for help from the students and parents while fostering a safe and positive environment.

“There is nothing more important than the safety and well-being of our students, and I would please ask if there are ever any concerns about student safety and security to please reach out to a member of our team,” said Cooper.

The letter said anyone with additional questions or concerns can contact the school at 918-272-5334
