The Palatine Police Dept. issued 419 citations during the recent Memorial Day “Click It or Ticket” enforcement period.

“Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts and child safety restraints save lives,” Cmdr. David Brandwein said.

The “Click It or Ticket” campaign aims to change the behavior of the millions of people who don’t buckle up.

During the enforcement period, Palatine police wrote 192 citations for seat belt violations and took the following additional actions:

  • 3 DUI arrests;
  • 9 suspended/revoked licenses;
  • 25 uninsured motorists;
  • 27 speeding citations;
  • 108 Electronic Communication Device/Cell Phone Violations; and
  • 1 felony drug arrest.

The Illinois “Click It or Ticket” campaign is administered by the Illinois Dept. of Transportation with federal highway safety funds.
