#parent | #kids | Apple Card Family extends credit card access to teens | #parenting | #parenting | #kids

Apple Card holding parents can soon give their teenagers access to the credit card. Adults can share a card and teens can be allowed limited usage thanks to the upcoming Apple Card Family feature.

Benefits for adults

“We designed Apple Card Family because we saw an opportunity to reinvent how spouses, partners, and the people you trust most share credit cards and build credit together,” said Jennifer Bailey, VP of Apple Pay, in a statement.

Ordinarily, when two people share a credit card, only the primary account holder builds a credit history. Apple Card Family enables both card holders to add to their credit history.

And if a couple wishes, they can merge separate Apple Card accounts.

Apple Card is for teens, too

Anyone who is 13 years or older can share an Apple Card too. The adult card holder(s) can put a credit limit on younger users. And track everyone’s spending.

The card was designed to be consumer friendly, displaying purchases and payments in an easy-to-understand interface on an iPhone, iPad, etc. Those features are being extended to multiple users in a modified app layout.

Apple Card Family debuts in the United States in May. There’s no word yet on when it’ll roll out to other countries.
