Sheridan played host to their 2nd track meet of the spring with the Gary Benson Meet on Thursday at Homer Scott Stadium. On the girl’s side in the sprint races, Sydalee Brown of Campbell County continued her solid season with a win in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.68. Natrona’s Brooklyn Hytreck took the tape in the 200 in 26.95 while her teammate Ella Spear won the 400 in 1.01.57. In the distance races, Sheridan’s Abby Newton ran 2.26.19 to win the 800 meters her teammate Katie Turpin was victorious in the 1600 meters  with a time of 5.31.39 with Lexi Rule of Buffalo winning the 3200 in 12.23.30

Gabby Drube of Thunder Basin, who is a Univerisity of Wyoming signee swept the hurdle races with a clocking of 14.99 in the 100 and 47.41 in the 300. In the girl’s relays, Natrona wins the 4×100 with Cody winning the 4×400, Thunder Basin the 4×800, and Sheridan took the 1600 medley.

Over in the field events, Natrona’s Breonna Beckley went 17-2 to take the long jump. Kelly Walsh’s Elayna Chafee won the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet even. The high jump winner was Preslee Moser at 5-2 while all-star pole vaulter Grace Shaffer of Cody cleared 12-1 to take first. Campbell County’s Lauren Love has been dominating the throwing events this season as she took 1st in the shot and the discus. She threw 45-5.5 in the shot and 136-4 in the discus. In the girl’s team standings in the Benson Meet, Sheridan and Natrona tied for first with 122 points with Thunder Basin 3rd with 116.

For the boys, the 100-meter dash winner was Dominic Kaszas in 10.8 with Campbell County’s Brandon Werkele running 22.77 to win the 200. His teammate Gabe Gipson won the 400 in 51.24. Kollen Milmine from Buffalo won the half-mile in 2.04.42, Sheridan’s Austin Akers won the mile in 4.37.59 with his teammate David Standish taking the two-mile run in 10.07.75. Robert Douglas of Natrona swept the hurdle races going 14.51 in the 110 and 39.96 in the 300.

Campbell County won the 4×100 relay and the 1600 medley with Thunder Basin taking the 4×400 and Natrona the 4×800. In the field events, pole vault all-star Ryan Karajanis of Sheridan cleared 14 feet to place first. The high jump winner was Sheridan’s Conner McKinney, clearing 5-10. Trenton Walker of Kelly Walsh won the triple jump with a leap of 43-7 while Nolan Valdez of Natrona went 22-3.6 to win the long jump. In the weight events, Cam Burkett of Kelly Walsh threw 55-1.25 to win the shot put with Texas Tanner of Sheridan taking first in the discus at 160-9.

In the boy’s team standing for the meet, Sheridan was 1st with 220.5 points, Natrona 2nd with 105, and Powell 3rd with 70.5. Take a look at our video from the Benson Meet on Thursday. Enjoy!
