Paxton Police Blotter: Another arrest made in online child predator sting | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing


PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:

Aaron Rivera Rodriguez, 28, of Champaign

— Aaron Rivera Rodriguez, 28, of Champaign, was arrested for traveling to meet a minor, indecent solicitation of a child, solicitation to meet a child and illegal transportation of alcohol on Sunday, Aug. 27, as part of the Paxton Police Department’s ongoing online sting targeting child predators. He allegedly began communicating online at 4:47 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, with a person he believed to be a minor but was actually an undercover police officer, ultimately traveling to Paxton to meet the child and bringing alcohol to share when he was arrested at 10:32 p.m. the following day. The 2012 Ford Explorer that he was driving was seized by police under Article 36 of the Illinois Criminal Code.

— No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision at 2:12 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at the intersection of Market and Patton streets just south of Paxton’s downtown. The accident occurred when a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Laurie J. Nobilette, 37, of Urbana, was northbound on Market Street and failed to stop at the stop sign at Patton Street, where it struck an eastbound 2018 Honda CRV driven by Aaron B. Cardoso, 30, of Champaign. Nobilette was ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle and operating a vehicle with defective or no brakes, while Cardoso was ticketed for expired registration.

— Matthew W. Elliott, 48, of Rankin, was arrested on a Ford County warrant for failure to appear in court on a previous charge of operating a vehicle with suspended registration during a traffic stop at 10:35 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, near the intersection of Railroad and Dawn avenues on Paxton’s southeast side. The traffic stop was conducted after a Paxton police officer, who was aware that Elliott was wanted on the warrant, saw Elliott drive by in a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

— Crystal E. Williams, 30, of Rantoul was arrested on a Kendall County warrant for possession of a controlled substance during a traffic stop at 8:33 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, in the parking lot of the Village Pantry, 435 S. Railroad Ave. Williams was also ticketed for operating a vehicle with suspended registration, operating an uninsured vehicle and a child-restraint violation during the traffic stop, which was conducted after police saw her driving a 2005 Buick LeSabre with suspended registration. During the traffic stop, police found three children unsecured in their seats.

— Kenneth C. Williams, 57, of Buckley, was arrested for driving with no valid driver’s license and ticketed for operating a vehicle with suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 6:47 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Chestnut Street on Paxton’s northeast side. The traffic stop was conducted after police checked the plate of a 2009 Dodge Avenger that Williams was driving and determined that its registration was suspended. The vehicle was seized by police under city ordinance.

— Auneru Hernandez Almendarez, 25, of Rantoul, was arrested for driving with no valid driver’s license and ticketed for operating a vehicle with suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle during a traffic stop at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, near the intersection of U.S. 45 and Ford County Road 200 North, just south of Paxton. The traffic stop was conducted after police saw him driving a 2009 Toyota Camry with suspended registration. The vehicle was seized by police under city ordinance.
