Phone alert leads to suspect’s arrest

An alleged identity thief is in custody after a woman received a phone alert that her credit card was being used at a Medford hotel.

The woman said her wallet was stolen in the 100 block of North Riverside Avenue. As she was speaking with a police officer, she received the phone alert, which notified her the card was in use at Shiloh Inn on Biddle Road, Medford police said Sunday.

Police dashed to the motel and arrested Royal Christopher Hall, 33.

Hall, who has a Montana address, was lodged in the Jackson County Jail with no bail on Sunday.

He has a pending case in Josephine County Circuit Court for allegedly refusing to take a test for intoxicants after being stopped in Grants Pass by Oregon State Police, according to court records.
