Many social media users have discovered a viral app called “Remini” on TikTok. Recently, several TikTokers posted their AI-enhanced photos created by Remini on the platform, influencing others to download and try the app for themselves.

While Remini initially appears to offer harmless features like generating pregnant, wedding, and professional pictures of yourself, it has quickly become evident that this app is far more disturbing than people may think. Remini can also generate images of a small child with your face on it, a feature that frequently displays outputs of toddlers in tight leotards. For one woman, it allegedly created a photo of a nude child.
A woman on Facebook, Asia Marie Williams, warned others to delete Remini after alleging the app generated a naked child with her face on it. “Y’all need to delete that Remini app now!” she wrote. “They’re generating ai child porn… I downloaded it to see how my baby would look (if I had one), and this picture popped up…” However, some people in her comment section speculate that Williams or someone else made the photo themselves and that Remini did not generate it.
Other people in her comment section tried it for themselves, and some of them got clothed minors, but someone uploaded one photo that showed a toddler barely wearing anything from the waist down. Her photo was the only one that seemed to have a naked baby, and it remains unconfirmed whether or not Remini generated it.
According to Remini’s official website, their app is “used by billions,” and “People across the planet love using Remini to transform their visual content.” It’s hard to believe that this app would have billions of users, but it’s undoubtedly gaining traction based on the number of people I’ve seen using it on social media.
If you look at their policy page, you’ll find that their terms of service do not allow users to “Upload, generate, or distribute content that facilitates the exploitation or abuse of children, including all child sexual abuse materials and any portrayal of children that could result in their sexual exploitation.” There’s not an easy way to contact Remini for customer support purposes on their website (at least not one I could find), and it’s listed on the Apple Store by Splice Video Editor S.r.I, a business located in Milano, Italy. Thus, reaching out to them is challenging for both myself and others.
TikTok has become a powerful catalyst for promoting apps and products. But this influence comes with potential risks, especially when people constantly find themselves easily swayed to download apps that may not prioritize their safety and privacy. Like TikTok, dealing with an international company introduces complex legal frameworks and obstacles that complicate reporting and resolving such violations. Given the possible dangers and privacy risks associated with Remini, I would advise everyone to delete the app immediately to help prevent people from using it for gross and malicious purposes.
