Prey is the fifth entry in the Predator franchise, serving as a historical prequel to the earlier installments. Set three centuries ago in the Comanche Nation, Prey follows Naru (Amber Midthunder), a young novice warrior who — despite her community’s lack of faith in her abilities — is a fierce combatant. When an unseen threat of alien origin begins threatening her family and home, Naru sets out to take down the technologically-advanced hunter from another world. Prey received glowing reviews from both critics and fans when it debuted on Hulu last year. The prequel film has also received six nominations at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, which is set to air on Fox on Jan. 15, 2024.

Will There Be a Prey Sequel?

While 20th Century Studios and Hulu haven’t officially announced a sequel to Prey, Trachtenberg recently revealed that he has had “really exciting conversations” about continuing the story of Naru and the Comanche Nation and “what crazy things could we do next.” He added, “And I’ve never stopped, no one stopped thinking about how cool things could be going forward.”

Midthunder has also played coy in the past about Prey 2, though she admitted that she was “ready” for a sequel. “I loved that experience, I love that movie, and I would be happy to see where else we can take it,” she said in January 2023.

Prey is currently streaming on Hulu (in the United States) and Disney+ (internationally). The horror film arrives on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on Oct. 3.
