The Duke of Sussex has been criticised by a High Court judge for a failed attempt to drag Rupert Murdoch into a claim for alleged breach of his privacy.

Mr Justice Fancourt accused lawyers for Harry and other celebrities of having amended their legal claims to focus on “trophy” targets.

Harry alleges that he was the victim of “blagging” of confidential information, unlawful acts by private investigators, and had his landline calls hacked in his claim against News Group Newspapers (NGN), publisher of The Sun and the defunct News of the World. NGN is owned by News UK, the British parent company of The Times.
