Probation revoked for Electra man caught in child predator sting | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing

An Electra man initially sentenced to probation for seeking sex online from an undercover officer he believed was an underage girl will serve time in prison, court documents show.

Gregory Deshawn Mayo, 31, was one of 10 area men caught up in a child predator sting. The Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Rangers and Iowa Park police carried out the sting to catch online child predators.

Mayo, who had not previously been convicted of a felony, clicked on an ad and exchanged messages with an undercover police officer. She told him she was 16. He agreed to pay her $20 for oral sex.

Mayo showed up to meet her, but he had no money. He later told a Texas Ranger he went to two cash machines, but both were closed.

On Thursday, Mayo pleaded true to probation violations as part of a plea bargain, court records show.

Eighty-ninth District Judge Charles Barnard sentenced him to two years in prison for online solicitation of a minor-sexual contact in connection with an Oct. 1, 2017, incident. Mayo will receive 67 days of credit for jail time served.
