IT Project Manager II (Temporary Assignment)

Responsibilities:
As the IT Project Manager, your responsibilities will be:

    • Schedule tasks, deadlines and milestones for all stake holders and inter-department resources
    • Manages/coordinates/escalates project tasks on a day-to-day basis
    • Disseminates information to team members through task and sub-task assignments based on requirements
    • Coordinates communication between client, staff, sub-contractors, and third parties acting on behalf of PMO
    • Efficiently and competently manages problems when things go off plan (due to scope-creep, changed requirements, missed deadlines, etc.) and brings them back on plan or creates a new plan with the assistance of key stake holders
    • Leads and monitors all activities for project teams of varying size (typically 5+ IT staff) that performs project management functions for multiple, high risk, technologically-based projects from initiation through delivery
    • Coordinates and interfaces across platforms, applications, and/or business lines
    • Works closely with all IT roles including governance, architecture, development, infrastructure and IT security teams in managing appropriate project activities
    • Works with business partners to develop technological concepts, requirements, design alternatives, project schedules, and cost analysis for new system initiatives
    • Plans, establishes, and directs complex program schedules and budgets, monitoring project status in comparison to cost/time projections
    • Tracks project forecasted dates to actual delivery dates, documenting reasons for variance and impact to schedules and other projects in pipeline
    • Maintains project budget and resource utilization against forecast and actuals
    • Updates ITSC (Information Technology Steering Committee) on project/program activities, associated risks, mitigation strategies, and financial implications
    • Provides consistent and comprehensive status reports on a regular basis
    • Facilitates lessons learned at the end of each project, documenting results and briefing the project management team for training and improvement purposes
    • Contributes to the processes and the methodologies pertaining to the management of projects. PMOs a central library for standards (including templates, forms, checklists) and acts as an expert knowledgeable of all aspects of their deployment
    • Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple concurrent high visibility customer facing technology projects with broad scope and high availability objectives
    • Collaborates with product managers, analysts, and other teams to help scope and define future projects
    • Performs problem management responsibilities as needed

 

  • Assists other project management resources as needed
  • Assists PMO and/or Governance functions with status and metric reporting as needed
  • Manages and assists with maintaining on-going vendor relationships, including RFI and RFP processes
Required Skills and Knowledge:
    • Proven competency and success with managing projects involving data migration.
    • Demonstrates wide experience with formulating project plans, scope, project description documents, and resource plans
    • Demonstrated experience in controlling project scope while actively mitigating risks and issues for IT software and/or hardware projects
    • Excellent communication, writing, critical thinking,  and analytical skills

 

    • Able to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously with cross matrix teams
    • Ability to manage projects with a professional attitude and exceptional organizational skills under pressure
    • Ability to drive consensus across multiple organizations

 

  • Proven effectiveness with producing high quality work products

 

Physical Requirements:

    • Sit/stand/walk 8-12 hours/day

 

    • Lift/carry/push/pull under and over 10lbs occasionally

 

  • Keying frequency, handling, reaching, fine manipulation
Education and Experience:
    • BA or BS degree in related discipline
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects in an IT and software development environment with medium to large organizations
    • Experience managing projects in industry standard development methodologies

 

    • Experience with program management style management and reporting
    • Advanced degree in related discipline a plus

 

  • Relevant Project Management Certification a plus
