Walsh wants to call evidence to rebut Udowicz’s claim Lemieux “stonewalled” him, but ensuring any attempts he made to contact government officials, including his alleged victim’s boss, ended up being redirected to Lemieux.

She also wants to look into claims Udowicz made in his testimony he attempted to file a criminal complaint against Lemieux, but the Edmonton Police Service refused to open a file.

Defence lawyer Kim Ross argued Walsh shouldn’t be allowed to call such evidence, noting it was quite possible his client’s complaint to police was brushed off and not documented.

The prosecution on Tuesday also agreed to Udowicz’s release on bail after he was acquitted last week on unrelated domestic charges.

Among the conditions of his release are that he have no contact with Lemieux or Walsh.

A date to resume his trial will be set next month.
